Pongal is Tamilians Festival !

Its celebrated on Makara Sankranti Day ! And this year 2007 its on 14th January 2007 !

According Gregorian calender it comes around mid of January when the Sun transits from Dhanur Raasi into Makara Raasi ! Its the transition of the Sun God from one Raasi into the other. The other significance is that its the time of harvest in Tamil nadu. So its a great festival time as well.
